Sarah Wooldridge is proposing the creation of a community garden in Puivert, a place where organic vegetables and fruit, local medicinal plants and a meeting place will come together. More than just a vegetable garden, this project aims to create a true haven of nature and conviviality, open to all local residents and their friends.
Looking for land
To make this project a reality, they are looking for a plot of land with access to water, ideally beside a stream, where they can plant fruit trees (with shade in summer). The aim is to create a harmonious ecosystem, where vegetables and medicinal plants grow together, enjoying each other’s benefits.
An inclusive project, much more than a garden
This garden is not just for gardening enthusiasts! They need people with a variety of talents to enrich this living space and develop different initiatives:
🌿 Environmental education: workshops for children from Puivert and Nébias schools to raise awareness of the origins of food and the preservation of biodiversity (creation of insect houses, bird tables…). The closer we get to nature, the more we learn to protect it.
🤝 Intergenerational encounters: a place where residents of all ages can get together, exchange ideas and break down isolation. For example, older people, even those who no longer garden, will be able to pass on their knowledge and tricks to new generations.
🌸 Medicinal plants and well-being: a space dedicated to growing and sharing medicinal plants, with the possibility of organizing workshops to learn how to make herbal teas, natural first-aid kits, ecological cleaning products or natural cosmetics. Discovery outings will also provide an opportunity to explore local plants and better understand their importance.
🍎 Organic production and composting: workshops to learn how to grow organic crops successfully, but also how to compost and adopt environmentally-friendly practices.
Join them!
This community garden will be a living, evolving place, shaped by those who participate. Whether you’re a gardener, handyman, nature enthusiast or simply curious, your help will be invaluable!
