Geology outing on 29 July

We were 8 participants.

During this outing, we observed the stones of the houses and the castle, and learned to recognise limestone, sandstone and granite. These rocks were formed at the ‘beginnings’ of life on Earth, over a very long period of time, so we travelled to the bottom of the seas, to the magmas inside the Earth, to understand how the different rocks are formed…

Then the maps and landscapes took us back in time, to the slow collision of the plates and the formation of the Pyrenees mountains long after the dinosaurs died out.

We also followed the journey of water through glaciers, rocks and rivers…
