On Saturday 12 October, the Puivert MJC organised its ‘Fête du Goût’ (Taste Festival) under the covered market! It was a wonderful day!
The people of the village turned out in force to help make the event a success …. 18 stands manned by amateur chefs… They delighted us with their sweet and savoury dishes… There was something for everyone…. Millas made on the spot, served with a daube …. soups, vegetarian dishes, tarts and cakes …. The schools’ stand with dishes cooked with the children ….
the MJC provided bread, cheese, wine and coffee …. and we had over 120 paying visitors …. which is a record ….
The MJC had laid out large tables decorated with flowers, and 2 talented local musicians (Carl and Patrick) accompanied the meal with their soft, hushed songs and melodies …. A real pleasure!
The meal was punctuated by a number of lottery interludes. All the prizes were donated by local residents, and here too, variety, diversity and generosity were the order of the day…
Around 1.45pm, 5 Oriental Dance / Tribal Fusion dancers, in magnificent stage costumes, gave us a small sample of their talent …. and dazzled the audience with their performance.
And at 2pm … we tidied up, folded up and cleaned up to open the …. space. And theRicard/Bennes duo took to the stage… guitar, accordion and vocals … and the Bal Folk got under way …. mazurka, waltz, circus round … etc … they got us moving and twirling magnificently, carrying us away in their joyous and sparkling musical universe ….
