On 23 February, thanks to funding from the Aude department, young members of the Puivert MJC were able to try out a free day of cross-country skiing at the Col du Chioula under cloudless skies and summer-like temperatures.
Cross-country skiing was very fun and allowed them to learn how to glide and balance gently, in a calm environment in the middle of nature, accompanied by two qualified, caring and humorous professionals.
The moderate speed and gentle slope of the cross-country ski trails allowed the young people present to discover and easily acquire the first sensations of sliding. Progress in cross-country skiing was fairly rapid, which allowed them to gain confidence in themselves and to become independent quickly.
It was a great opportunity to enjoy a new environment: the snow and the mountains in a fun way while being advised and guided by instructors. There were encounters, falls, lots of laughs, lots of courage, and young people who left tired from this sporting day and very happy with their experience.
Thank you to the Aude department, to the two friendly and welcoming monitors, and to Catherine, a volunteer with the MJC and member of the Board of Directors, who accompanied the young people during this day.
